Telehealth & Appointments

  • Telehealth lets you have your appointments by secure video, from the comfort of your own home. We provide care for conditions like depression, anxiety, and ADHD, along with medication management and our specialty treatments. All you need is a private space and an internet connection.

  • You will receive a link to your appointment by email or text. Just click the link at your scheduled time to join.

  • You need to be physically located in Florida at the time of your appointment, since that is where your provider is licensed. You can join from home or any private, quiet space within the state.

  • All you need is a device with a camera, a stable internet connection, and a quiet, private space where we can talk.

    • Appointments must be canceled or rescheduled at least 24 hours in advance.

    • Late cancellations or missed appointments are subject to a $100 fee, which must be paid before scheduling future visits.

    • You can cancel or reschedule through the patient portal or by contacting the office.

    • Appointment reminders are sent as a courtesy, but not receiving one does not waive this policy.

  • Yes. All intake forms must be completed through the patient portal at least 24 hours before your visit. Appointments may be rescheduled if forms are not complete.

  • Mental Alive does not provide emergency services. If you are experiencing a medical or psychiatric emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. If you are in emotional crisis or having thoughts of harming yourself, you can also call or text 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, available 24 hours a day.

Treatments & Medication Management

  • Spravato® is a nasal spray FDA-approved for treatment-resistant depression. It is administered under the supervision of a healthcare provider in our office. It can help those who haven't found relief from traditional antidepressants.

  • If you have been diagnosed with depression that hasn't responded to other treatments, you may be a candidate. We’ll review your medical history and treatment plan to determine eligibility.

  • We treat a range of mental health and substance use conditions in adults, including depression, treatment-resistant depression, anxiety and panic, ADHD, and sleep difficulties. We also provide specialty care for opioid use disorder using Suboxone, and for alcohol use disorder using naltrexone or Vivitrol.

You can read more about our addiction treatment in the section just below.

  • You will need to complete an initial evaluation. During the treatment, you’ll be monitored for safety, and you’ll need a ride home afterward. Bring your ID, insurance card, and any medication details.

  • No, you do not need a prior psychiatric evaluation to begin Spravato® or other treatments here. We can assess your needs during our initial session.

  • The duration of medication use varies based on factors such as the type and severity of your condition, treatment response, and potential side effects. Your provider will assess your progress and adjust the treatment plan accordingly.

  • Like all medications, psychiatric prescriptions may have side effects, which is why regular monitoring is essential. Medication management ensures that any side effects are minimized and necessary adjustments are made to maintain effectiveness.

  • Your provider determines the most suitable medication based on your symptoms, medical history, current medications, and overall health profile. Treatment plans are personalized to achieve the best possible outcomes.

  • Dosages may need to be modified over time based on symptom changes, treatment response, or medication tolerance. Regular follow-ups help ensure you receive the appropriate dosage.

  • Discontinuing medication suddenly can lead to withdrawal symptoms or a return of your condition. Always discuss any medication changes with your provider to develop a safe discontinuation plan if needed.

  • Effectiveness varies for each person. Your provider will track your progress, adjust treatment if necessary, and ensure your medication is helping you manage symptoms effectively.

    • No. Medications are prescribed with enough supply to last until your next scheduled visit.

    • Refills, dosage changes, or lost medications require an appointment.

    • Emergency or last-minute refills are not provided.

    • ADHD evaluations include a full 60-minute psychiatric assessment and required FDA-cleared computerized testing that measures attention and impulsivity.

    • The testing must be completed before any treatment recommendations are made, and not every patient evaluated will need medication.

    • There are two ways to be evaluated. If you have insurance, your psychiatric evaluation is billed to your plan and the computerized test is a $175 self-pay fee.

    • If you are self-pay, our ADHD Evaluation Bundle is $375 and includes the full evaluation, the testing, clinical interpretation, and a two-week follow-up visit.

  • No. The computerized ADHD test is a $175 self-pay service and is not billed to insurance.

Suboxone & Alcohol Use Disorder Treatment

  • MAT is the use of FDA-approved medication, combined with psychiatric care, to treat opioid use disorder. At Mental Alive, this most often means Suboxone (buprenorphine), which eases withdrawal and reduces cravings without producing a high. It is the standard of care for opioid use disorder and is backed by decades of research.

  • No. This is a common myth. When taken as prescribed under medical supervision, Suboxone does not produce a high. It stabilizes brain chemistry so you can function normally, the same way medication is used to manage any other health condition.

  • No, and in fact you should not be. Starting Suboxone usually requires being in early withdrawal, not completely opioid-free. We will explain exactly how to time your start so it is safe and comfortable. You do not have to figure this out alone.

  • Alcohol use disorder is treated as the medical condition it is, with medication and psychiatric care. We most often use naltrexone, available as a daily pill or as a monthly injection called Vivitrol. It reduces cravings and lessens the pleasurable effect of alcohol, which helps weaken the cycle of drinking over time.

  • Not necessarily. Some patients want to stop drinking entirely, and others want to cut back to a healthier, more controlled level. Both are valid goals, and the medication we use supports either one. We decide on the right goal together.

  • No. Mental Alive provides outpatient treatment for medically stable adults. We do not provide medical detox or inpatient withdrawal management. Stopping alcohol suddenly after heavy daily drinking can be dangerous, so if that applies to you, we will help connect you with the right level of care first. Your safety always comes first.

  • Yes. Your care is confidential and one-on-one, the same as any other psychiatric visit. There are no group sessions and no public sign-in. You will see the same provider every time, someone who knows your story and treats you with respect.

  • Often, yes. Same-week appointments are typically available for both Suboxone and alcohol use disorder treatment. When you are ready to make a change, we do not want a long wait to stand in your way.
